Consumer Protection Office Publishes First Statistical Release
Office of the Spokesperson
The Consumer Protection Office of the Velocity Interoperability Network today published its first statistical release. The release covers the transition period from 10 August to 5 September 2026, during which member organisations transferred their consumer protection functions to the Office, and records the position at establishment on 6 September 2026.
During the transition period 4,812 consumer enquiries were handled and 1,376 complaints were registered, of which 1,043 were resolved before establishment. The largest single category of complaint concerned goods that were faulty on delivery, followed by goods that did not match their description and goods that were never delivered. The median time from registration to resolution was eleven working days.
At establishment, 214 traders were entered on the register of suppliers, six recalls were in force and 38 product safety assessments were open. Figures for the transition period are provisional and will be revised in later releases where late returns are received from member organisations.
The Office will publish statistics quarterly. The next release, covering the quarter ending 30 September 2026, will be published in October 2026. The full release is set out on the Statistics page of this site.
