Consumer Protection Office Publishes First Recall Register

The Consumer Protection Office of the Velocity Interoperability Network today published the first edition of its recall register. Six recalls are in force at establishment. Four are classified Class A, meaning that the product presents a serious risk and should be taken out of use immediately; one is Class B and one is Class C.

The register records, for every recall, the reference number, the product and the batch or model affected, the hazard identified, the action a consumer should take and the date on which the recall was issued. Four of the six recalls were begun by member organisations before establishment and have been carried over to the Office's register without change of reference. Two were issued by the Office on 6 September 2026 following notifications from traders during the transition period.

A consumer who holds a recalled product should stop using it, check the batch or model against the entry in the register, and return it to the trader who supplied it. A trader is required to accept the return of a recalled product and to refund the price paid, whether or not the consumer has a receipt, provided the product can be identified as one covered by the recall.

The register is maintained continuously and every change is announced in the Newsroom. Traders who become aware that a product they have supplied is unsafe are required to notify the Office within two working days.
