The Consumer Protection Office of the Velocity Interoperability Network has been formally established. The Office is responsible for the safety of goods supplied within the Network, for the register of recalls, for the rights of buyers when goods are faulty or misdescribed, and for the handling of consumer complaints against traders established in the Network.

With its establishment complete, the Office today launches its official website at consumer.gov.vin. The site carries press releases and official statements, the general product safety rules, the register of recalls in force, guidance for consumers on their rights, guidance for traders on their duties, and the procedure for bringing a complaint.

The Office takes over functions previously exercised separately by member organisations. During the transition period from 10 August to 5 September 2026, member organisations transferred their product safety files, complaint records and outstanding recall notices to the Office. Work in hand at the point of transfer continues without interruption; consumers who wrote to a member organisation before 6 September 2026 need not write again.

The publication of the first recall register, the first edition of the general product safety rules and the Office's first statistical release are the subject of separate announcements published today. Enquiries may be sent to contact@consumer.gov.vin.
